Pink and white mixed flower wedding bouquet

Soft pink and white bridal bouquet

On of the nicest part of any wedding florist’s days is meeting with the bridal couple the week before the wedding to finalise their choice of flowers.  Often the wedding flowers have been months in the planning with the lots emails and discussions between the bride and her florist.  And as the big day approaches, the final decision about flowers has to be made.  Where a mixture of different types of flowers are being used, this will  be very dependent on what is available at the markets.

I always meet with my brides the week before to tell them what is available and what flower choices are available.  For instance, with my bride this morning I was able to share the news that Sydney flower suppliers are importing peonies and so we will be able to use pale pink peonies in her bouquet.  Sweetpeas have also come into season so we can use those for her bridesmaids who are having an all pink mixed flower bouquet.

My bride has decided on a bouquet similar to the above with white hydrangea, lisianthus and pale pink peonies.

Next week I will post a photo of the bouquet that we made for our bride.

Anzac remembered

In Remembrance

’The ANZAC tradition – the ideals of courage, endurance and mateship that are still relevant today – was established on 25 April, 1915 when the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps landed on the Gallipoli Peninsula.

“Two little boys” – A song made famous by the all Australian
Ralph Harris and sung in many a school assembly but do the young Australians really understand the meaning behind it?

I think they do. Being a New Zealander and coming to
Australian 8 years ago, I was thrilled to see that ANZAC day and its meaning was both commemorated so beautifully in schools and the children were taught its significance. Often a wreath in Laurel is ordered or paper poppies sold to remember the fallen. I recall seeing these gorgeous flowers growing wild in the fields of northern Europe.

As a Florist is it a pleasure to get an order for such a wreath, placing the purple “Lest we forget “ sash carefully onto each one.

As you reflect on this day yourself with friends and family
give special thought to the Diggers who fought or sacrificed their lives for their country.

Lyrics to Two Little Boys :

Two little boys had two little toys
Each had a wooden horse
Gaily they played each summers day
Warriors both of cause
One little chap then had a mishap
Broke off his horses head
Wept for his toy, then cried with joy
As his young playmate said
Did you think I would leave you crying
When there’s room on my horse for two
Climb up here, Jack and don’t be crying
I can go just as fast with two
When we grow up we’ll both be soliders
And our horses will not be toys
And I wonder if we’ll remember when we were
Two little boys
Long years past, war came so fast
Bravely they marched away
Cannon roared loud and in the mad crowd
Wounded and dieing lie, up goes a shout
A horse dashes out, out from the ranks so blue
Gallops away to where Joe lay, then came a voice he know
Did you think I would leave you dieing
When there’s room on my horse for two
Climb up here, Joe we’ll soon be flying
I can go just as fast with two
Did you say Joe I’m all a tremble, perhaps it’s the battles noise
But I thinks its that I remember when we were two little boys
Do you think I would leave you dieing
There’s room on my horse for two
Climb up here, Joe we’ll soon be flying
Back to the ranks so blue
Can you feel Joe I’m all a tremble, perhaps it’s the battles noise
But I think its that I remember when we were two little boys

Two little boys had two little toys
Each had a wooden horse
Gaily they played each summers day
Warriors both of cause
