Talk to Floristry Students at Canberra TAFE

On Tuesday night I gave a talk to floristry students at Canberra TAFE on my life as a florist!   I emphasised that while floristry was a very difficult business to be in involving long hours and hard work, it is also infinitely rewarding and I never stop loving being surrounded by flowers and fabulous floral designers.

I was really impressed by the quality of the students’ work and offered work experience to any of them that wanted to come to Coogee, Sydney for a week.

These pomanders (or flower balls) are a great way to decorate an outdoor wedding.  We made these particular one for a Cosmo Bride Wedding shoot.

We used Cherry Brandy columbian roses to match the client’s corporate colours of mustard and oranges.  This is quite a difficult colour to work with in terms of flowers.  However the columbian roses were a perfect match and the client was thrilled

 The pink tulip matched the groom’s tie for this elegant wedding held at Jones Bay Wharf in Pyrmont.  The wedding party were all thrilled with their flowers – the groom particularly loved his pink tulip and spray rose buttonhole.  I also heard rave reviews from all the guests.

Rob Reed from Lake Macquarie Photography www.lakemacquariephotography.com.au was the photographer for the day – I have had a peek preview and the photos look fabulous – I can thoroughly recommend him if you are looking for a great photographer at a reasonable price.

Wedding Flowers Photo Shoot Cosmopolitan Bride

We are all really excited – have three photoshoots in the next week – two with Cosmo Bride and one with OK Magazine for a wedding special they have in the next few weeks – keep your eyes out. 

The shoots will feature roses in every hue of pink, purple and ivory.

Love doing the photoshoots as it gives us all a chance to show our floristry skills and it is also a great day at the shoot.

Pink Tulip and Rose Wedding Bouquet

We created this beautiful bridal bouquet for a wedding held at Wylies Baths at Coogee, Sydney

The bride wore ivory and the bridesmaids wore black.  The bride wanted something pretty to complement the black dresses.  So we used pink tulips and roses to create a soft femine wedding bouquet.  It was a winner – the bride and her bridesmaids loved their bouquets.

This gorgeous wedding bouquet was made of all the latest spring flowers including yellow roses, ranunculas, jonquils.  the fragrance was superb.
